Brian Elkins, M.D., is a family physician in Alexandria, Louisiana. He was a faculty member and later program director of the LSU Family Medicine Residency in Alexandria from 1999-2013 and currently serves as medical director of Legacy Health & Wellness, an employer-based primary care and wellness center. He has served on the board of directors of the Louisiana Academy of Family Physicians for several years and is currently the organization’s president-elect. He was selected as the LAFP Family Physician of the Year in 2008 and a finalist for AAFP Family Physician of the Year in 2009. He is also the medical examiner for the Rapides Parish Children’s Advocacy Center.
Dr. Elkins believes in the power of positive health behaviors both professionally and personally. He believes that exercise, diet, rest and recreation for the mind and body, selfless connections to others and to God, and humility of spirit are keys to living a healthy, happy, fulfilled life.
